The McKeesport Housing Authority is an instrumentality which was created under the United States Housing Act of 1937. The mission of the housing authority is to primarily assist low-income individuals to find quality housing options in the McKeesport area.
The authority owns and operates 1,021 federally assisted units consisting of:
- Senior living communities
- Handicapped accessible housing
- Neighborhood sites consisting of town homes and single family homes
In addition, the authority administers a Section 8 voucher program, which assists over 400 families/individuals who live in privately owned rental homes throughout the city of McKeesport.
Federal participation in these programs is limited to income guidelines.
